Tropical White Sangria (My Birthday Cocktail)

Do you remember when I made a white sangria last year for our annual slip 'n slide/crab feast/party-palooza? Well kids, things just got even better. While super refreshing (and intoxicating) when I originally made it, I found a new vodka to use that makes it even fruitier. This was the beverage of choice at my birthday party 2 weeks ago, and once again it didn't disappoint.

Tropical White Sangria
Adapted from my previous white sangria recipe

1 bottle dry white wine (again, I used a relatively inexpensive chardonnay)
3/4 c. Pinnacle Tropical Punch vodka
6 Tbsp. lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/4 c. white sugar
Fresh strawberries and grapes (or fresh fruit of your choice)

Mix all ingredients minus the fruit together in a pitcher and stir thoroughly to ensure the sugar is dissolved; add the fruit. While the original recipe says to chill for several hours or overnight, Buppy made this about 30 minutes before guests began to arrive and it still tasted great. If you have the time though, I'm sure it'd be even better after a few hours.

Like I recommended for the last batch, either cut club or lemon-lime soda into the pitcher right before you serve it or make sure your guests know to do so when they help themselves (which is how I did it so it wouldn't go flat). If you don't, I see early intoxication being a problem.

The use of a tropical punch vodka instead of a mango vodka this time really made a huge difference. It felt so much more tropical this time around, although the mango batch was killer too. Experiment with different wines, vodkas, concentrates and fruits, and I'm sure each batch will be a winner-winner. Enjoy!
